Pre-war canned food and creature meat are essential in Fallout 76. Whether you need to clear daily S.C.O.R.E. challenges, cook high-stat meals, or keep your hunger meter topped off for health buffs, knowing where to farm key items saves you hours of wandering Appalachia.

This guide targets two crucial farming needs: canned pre-war foods (Cram, Pork and Beans) and Mutant Hound meat.

Where to Find Cram & Pork and Beans

Pre-war canned goods do not spoil, making them ideal for stockpiling. Cram and Pork and Beans are frequently required for daily and weekly S.C.O.R.E. challenges.

1. Sunshine Meadows Industrial Farm (Automated Farming)

• Location: The Forest region (West of Vault 76)
• Method: Claim the public workshop and power up the Food Packaging Machine. Set the terminal output to Canned Processed Food (produces Salisbury Steak, Cram, Pork and Beans, and Canned Dog Food).
• Tip: Connect a generator supplying 40 Power directly to the machine. Lock the collector box to prevent other players from taking your loot.

2. Watoga High School

• Location: Cranberry Bog
• Method: Search the main cafeteria tables, kitchen counters, and tray drop-off racks.
• Tip: This area is rich in pre-war food spawns. Run the Monster Mash event while looting to clear enemies and reset loose items.

3. Whitespring Resort & Mall

• Location: The Savage Divide
• Method: Sweep through the kitchen areas inside the main building, maintenance halls, and dining areas.
• Tip: Check the Cap-Cap Cap vendor, Antoine (food vendor), and train station vendors nearby. They often carry canned goods in their inventory.

4. General & Station Vendors

• Check Faction Vendors at Train Stations (Charleston, Morgantown, Pleasant Valley).
• Search player vending machines across the map—players often list unwanted pre-war food for cheap.

Where to Find Mutant Hounds

Mutant Hound Meat provides excellent strength and melee damage buffs when cooked into Mutant Hound Chops or Mutant Hound Stew.

Because Mutant Hounds strictly spawn alongside Super Mutants, target locations with high Super Mutant density.

1. West Tek Research Center (Best Overall Spot)

West Tek is the undisputed best location for farming Mutant Hounds and XP.

• Exterior: Clear the perimeter parking lot and front gates for 3–5 hounds.
• Interior: Enter the building to clear the main facility.
• Infinite Farm Trick: Take the elevator down to the basement level, wait 1 minute, and go back up. The interior enemies (including Mutant Hounds) will fully respawn.

2. Huntersville

Located just south of West Tek, this small town is overrun by Super Mutants.

• Expect 3 to 6 Mutant Hounds patrolling the main street and ruined houses.
• Quick clear with clear sightlines—ideal for rifleman and commando builds.

3. Public Events (Massive Waves)

If you want meat and legendary gear simultaneously, join these public events whenever they pop up:

• Eviction Notice: Features dozens of Super Mutants and Mutant Hound waves. Use a Tesla Rifle or explosive weapon to tag as many as possible before they die.
• Jail Break: Offers steady waves of Super Mutants and hounds trying to break through the prison courtyard.

Maximize Your Yields

To double your rewards while farming, equip these perks before looting or cooking:

• Can Do! (Luck): Increases your chances of finding extra canned food when searching coolers, trash cans, and food containers by up to 75%.
• Butcher’s Bounty (Perk/Perception): Gives a chance to harvest double meat from Mutant Hounds.
• Super Duper (Luck): Gives a 30% chance to double your yields when crafting cooked meals at cooking stations.
