The sci-fi RTS and FPS hybrid reaches version 1.0 after more than three years in Early Access, bringing a new campaign and improved multiplayer.

After more than three years in Early Access, Silica has officially reached version 1.0. Developed by Martin Melichárek through Bohemia Interactive’s Incubator program, the sci-fi game combines real-time strategy and first-person shooter gameplay in a conflict over the resources of the desert planet Baltarus. Players can command entire armies from a strategic perspective or jump straight into the action and fight alongside their forces.

A War Between Humans and Alien Forces

The conflict on Baltarus involves three factions: the human forces of Sol and Centauri, and the planet’s native alien inhabitants. Each brings its own units, technology, and combat style, turning the struggle for resources into a three-sided war.

The biggest addition in version 1.0 is the new Centauri Campaign, a single-player story experience featuring cinematic introductions, fully voiced briefings, and in-game dialogue. A 3D planetary globe also tracks the shifting control of territories as the conflict develops. Players can save their progress at any time, with automatic checkpoints providing additional flexibility.

The game’s central RTS/FPS combination remains its main attraction. You can gather resources, build bases, produce units, and direct large-scale battles from above, or take control of individual soldiers, vehicles, and alien creatures on the battlefield.

Silica 1.0 Brings Better Command and Multiplayer

The full release also improves how armies operate. Commanders can now organize units into formations, issue more precise orders, and select groups of the same unit type more quickly. AI targeting and vehicle movement have also received improvements, while expanded sandbox tools and Steam Workshop support give players more ways to create and share custom scenarios.

For competitive players, the update introduces 1v1 matchmaking, making it easier to find opponents and choose factions and maps. Dedicated server reliability, connection stability, and team-killer detection have also been improved.

Silica 1.0 is available now on PC via Steam for $24.99 / €24.99. The game offers four main ways to play: solo Strategy, cooperative Strategy with adjustable difficulty, the new story Campaign, and competitive 1v1 matches. Players who already own the Early Access version receive the full release as a free update.
