Seven titles receive Anniversary Editions with restored cinematics and modern improvements, while 18 more classics make their Steam debut.
EA is bringing back a big part of its PC gaming history. 25 classic games from the publisher’s catalog are now available on Steam for the first time, alongside GOG and the EA App. The collection includes new Anniversary Editions of Road Rash and six games from the Wing Commander franchise, as well as classics like Ultima, Crusader, and Theme Hospital.
The release is particularly interesting for longtime PC players, as seven titles have received restoration work, improved compatibility, and quality-of-life updates designed for modern systems.
Road Rash and Wing Commander Get Anniversary Editions
The seven Anniversary Editions preserve the original games while adding improvements to controls, performance, and presentation. One of the biggest parts of the project involved recovering cinematic footage from EA’s physical media archive.
After discovering thousands of archival materials, the team digitized old master tapes and restored more than 1,500 cinematic scenes across the seven games. The updated versions also include higher-resolution Full Motion Video sequences.
Road Rash: 30th Anniversary Edition brings the 1996 PC version to digital stores for the first time. It features a relicensed soundtrack with music from bands including Soundgarden, Monster Magnet, and Therapy?, along with improved performance of up to 60 FPS, native controller support, windowed mode, and cloud saves.
The six Wing Commander releases also received attention, with community-made mods and improvements incorporated into the official editions. Players who already own digital copies of the Wing Commander games on GOG or the EA App will receive the corresponding Anniversary Edition upgrades for free on those platforms.
The seven restored releases are:
- Road Rash: 30th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander: 35th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi: 35th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger: 30th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom: 30th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander Prophecy: 30th Anniversary Edition
- Privateer 2: The Darkening: 30th Anniversary Edition
