Build, paint, and customize mecha models in this cozy simulation game, now available to try for a limited time.
Ever wanted to build your own mecha from scratch, choosing every detail along the way? Model Kit Studio brings the hands-on fun of model making to a virtual workshop, where players can assemble, paint, and customize their own creations at a relaxed pace. The latest Steam playtest runs from November 2 to November 16, 2026, offering a first look at the upcoming simulation game.
Build and Customize Two Mecha Models
The playtest features two models to put together: MeKS, a flying robo-sidekick with a habit of getting into trouble, and Excavaclaw, a mining mecha designed for planetary and asteroid excavation. Players follow step-by-step instructions, cutting and assembling each piece just like they would with a physical model kit. Once the build is complete, brushes, airbrushes, and decals offer plenty of room for personalization. There’s even a hand vacuum to clean up leftover nubs and keep the workbench tidy.

A Cozy Workshop to Explore
Model-making is only part of the experience. Between builds, players can explore their workshop apartment, spend time with Donut, their purring pet cat, grab a hot cup of coffee, or take care of the studio plants. A jukebox provides a soundtrack for the space, adding to the laid-back atmosphere. These small activities give the workshop a more personal feel, making it somewhere to relax and enjoy the process rather than simply rush through one model after another.
