The community that lived through AION 2’s Early Access has already made every mistake worth avoiding, here’s what they learned.
If you’re jumping into AION 2 for the first time today, you’ve got an advantage the Early Access crowd didn’t: their hindsight. Players who spent weeks in Atreia before launch have been sharing what they’d do differently, and most of it comes down to the same lesson, don’t let optimization eat the fun out of a brand-new MMO.

Mindset Tips Before You Start
- Play at your own pace. Don’t compare your item level to streamers and hyper-optimized players with full guides and weeks of prior knowledge, that’s not a realistic baseline for a normal player.
- Pick a class based on what you actually enjoy, not a tier list. Balance passes happen weekly, so today’s strongest class can shift in power fast. If it doesn’t click, switch to an alt you liked more.
- Prioritize world events with your faction. World bosses, Abyss sieges and faction battles are where AION 2 shows off its massively multiplayer side, don’t miss them grinding solo content instead.
⚔️ Settling in for the long haul? A comfortable gaming chair makes a real difference once you’re logging serious hours in Atreia.
Mistakes Worth Skipping Entirely
- Don’t run timed events before level 45, and don’t claim loot unless you’re placing top 2 at least. Burning keys on low-tier rewards is one of the most common regrets.
- Don’t spend Kinah out of FOMO to cheese a few extra item levels near a threshold. Patience gets you there without draining your currency on a shortcut that isn’t worth the price.
- Skip heavy character customization if you care about your name. Grab the name you want with a decent basic preset, customization tickets pile up for free over time anyway.

A Rough Progression Route
Early game (up to roughly 1400 item level):
- Clear the main story quest, then every sidequest on your map
- Finish all sealed dungeons and strongholds on your map
- Complete your ascension quests
- Upgrade Clash Runes only to +1 for now
- Finish your Abyss feathers and your faction’s feathers
- Run enemy faction dungeons (accessible via rifts roughly every 3 hours) for Abyss Points and enhancement materials
- Spend Shugo Points on Daevanion Crystals, Nightmare Points on Daevanion, and Abyss Points on Stigma Shards to level your Stigmas
From there, pick a route:
- Long-term route: Keep your main’s energy banked, level alts the same way, then invest Kinah into either Quna exchange (super long-term) or cheap life-skill materials (medium long-term)
- Regular route: Push your main to 1600 using manastones and some enhancement levels, then grind Transcendence until you get a full set of green cards
Mid-to-late game loop:
- Push to 1900 using Vakron/Urugugu dungeon gear, start Transcendence level 2
- Keep running Transcendence until your cards turn blue
- From here, it’s a repeating cycle: clear the next dungeon tier, farm the next Transcendence level, upgrade your cards, move to the next expedition
- Keep going until you reach Ludra, the game’s first raid
🎮 New to MMOs with this much depth? A second monitor for tracking guides and maps while you play makes early progression a lot less overwhelming.
A Few More Things to Know
- Don’t run item-level-gated content without a Cleric, you’ll burn through resurrection stones fast without one.
- On the first two bosses of certain dungeons, you can revive without a res stone and still rejoin the fight. On the third boss, you’ll be locked out unless you use one.
- Bring a Templar when possible. Their damage reduction makes raids noticeably more manageable for the whole group.
The Real Takeaway
Across every tip shared by the community, one theme keeps coming back: don’t optimize the fun out of the game. Min-maxing can be enjoyable at first, but you’re ultimately competing against RMT buyers, whales, and players with far more free time than most people have. Pace yourself, take breaks, and remember the game is supposed to be fun first.
