The game runs, but 4GB of VRAM is 2GB short of the official minimum, and the frame rate shows it.
Nivalis Nights runs on a GTX 1650 4GB, but the card is below the official 6GB VRAM minimum, and it shows. In our test at 1080p High, FPS ranged from 20 to 53, with VRAM maxed out at around 4GB the whole time.
Test Setup
| Component | Spec |
|---|---|
| CPU | AMD Ryzen 5 4600G |
| GPU | MSI GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 |
| RAM | 32GB DDR4 3200MHz |
| Driver | NVIDIA 610.74 |
| OS | Windows 11 Pro 25H2 |
| Resolution | 1080p |
| Preset | High |
| Tested | Early game, up to unlocking the first restaurant |
Performance was measured with the MSI Afterburner / RTSS overlay and recorded with OBS Studio, which costs about 1-2 FPS.
Results
- FPS range: 20-53
- VRAM usage: about 4.0GB (maxed out)
In the overlay frame below, the GPU sits at 100% usage and VRAM at about 3,986 MB, while the CPU stays at 43%. That points to the graphics card as the limit, not the processor.

Official Requirements vs. This Test
The official minimum for Nivalis Nights lists 16GB of RAM and a dedicated GPU with 6GB of VRAM. This test uses 32GB of RAM, so system memory isn’t the issue, but the GTX 1650 has only 4GB of VRAM, 2GB short of the minimum.
One important detail: according to the Steam page, the minimum specs target 1080p at 30 FPS on the “very low” preset. This test used High, which is a much heavier setting, so the results are not a like-for-like comparison with the official minimum.
Takeaway
On 4GB cards, VRAM is the bottleneck. If you’re playing on this hardware, lowering texture quality is the first setting to try, and dropping from High to Medium should help with the lower end of the FPS range. We haven’t tested Medium yet, so treat that as a starting point, not a guarantee.
💾 Heads up on storage. The Steam page lists an SSD as required, so if you’re still on a hard drive, an NVMe SSD is a worthwhile upgrade for big open worlds like this one.
