With just a few days to go before Rockstar’s official Netflix event, the leak of the year has finally happened: gameplay videos and map images of Grand Theft Auto VI hit the web. The leaked footage showed protagonist Jason in action and revealed several details of what’s to come.

Brawls, Fuel, and Basketball

The clips reveal a lot about the gameplay pacing and some very interesting new features:

  • Throwing Down: After crashing his car into a delivery van on the highway, Jason gets into an intense street fight. Hand-to-hand combat includes flying kicks, punches, and using environmental objects (like a wrench), which immediately raised the wanted level to two out of six stars.
  • Mind the Fuel Tank: The car’s UI shows a fuel gauge—yes, it looks like we’ll have to refuel—and options to use the trunk to store equipment and general items.
  • Minigames and Focus Attribute: In another video, Jason is seen shooting a basketball into a backyard hoop. The game teaches the ring-aiming mechanic, and upon hitting the shot, the character’s “Focus” stat increases by 2%.

Map Locations and Retaliation

Along with the videos, map images leaked and revealed regions such as Dalton Island, Tequesta Retreat, Gloriana Key, Catalan Key, and Catalan Bay.

Rockstar has not confirmed whether the material is real, but it has already started taking down the content via copyright strikes (the classic DMCA), which is practically a certificate of authenticity. The leaker responsible for the drop, named Cyberleek, promised to continue releasing content in protest of the publisher’s decision to launch GTA VI exclusively in digital format.

Countdown to the Showcase

The timing of the leak couldn’t be worse for the company’s marketing team. The broadcast Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix on August 27 at 4:00 PM BRT before heading to YouTube. The expectation is that the presentation will finally reveal official gameplay in detail.

GTA VI launches for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
