The 20th Anniversary Update brings new weather effects, improved AI, five multiplayer maps, and a major expansion of Final Stand.
Relic Entertainment has released Company of Heroes 3 Update 3.0 on PC via Steam. Arriving as part of the franchise’s 20th anniversary celebrations, the update is the biggest overhaul the game has received since its launch, bringing improvements to visuals, audio, AI, gameplay, maps, and the Italian dynamic campaign.
The update also delivers substantial changes to Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand, including a new three-player co-op mode and the Dam Busters Battleground.
Update 3.0 Transforms the Battlefield with New Maps and Effects
The visual improvements are among the main highlights of Update 3.0. Battles now feature new snow and rain effects, dynamic terrain wetness, improved fog and smoke, enhanced soldier lighting, and updated animations. New industrial, winter, and autumn environments also add more variety to the battlefields.
Audio has received attention as well, with improved weapon firing, impacts, explosions, and vehicle destruction sounds. The music selection has also been expanded with classic tracks from the original Company of Heroes and Company of Heroes 2.
Relic has also worked on AI behavior, late-game performance, gameplay balance, and the Italian dynamic campaign, which receives progression fixes, clearer maps, visual improvements, and other quality-of-life changes.
Multiplayer gets five new maps:
- Ancona Railyard
- Vire River Valley
- Foggia Airfield
- Turin Steelworks
- Radarstation Mammut
Existing maps also receive visual updates, including Langres Winter, Mignano Summit, and Rapido River Crossing. Four premium cosmetic sets are available too: Climb to Glory for US Forces, Edelweiss for Wehrmacht, Bloody Baltic for British Forces, and Cold Snap for Deutsches Afrikakorps.
Final Stand Adds Three-Player Co-op and a New Battleground
Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand receives its own major content update alongside version 3.0. The biggest addition is three-player cooperative play, allowing teams to join forces across all Battlegrounds. Enemy difficulty scales according to the number of players.
The update also introduces Dam Busters, a new Battleground with changing weather conditions that affect battlefield visibility and unit range. Players can also expect additional enemy units, new abilities, passive technologies, and gameplay and balance adjustments.
The 3.0 update arrives during the franchise’s 20th anniversary celebrations. Relic has also announced Company of Heroes: Definitive Edition as part of its upcoming initiatives, while confirming its continued support for the series.
