Footage shows Nintendo’s remake running through the experimental Lichii emulator, but performance and graphics still need work.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time has already appeared running on PC through an experimental Nintendo Switch 2 emulator. Footage shared online shows the remake reaching 60 FPS during its opening sequence, offering an early look at the progress of Switch 2 emulation.
The demonstration uses Lichii, an open-source emulator project still under development. While the initial results look promising, the game is far from ready for a smooth PC experience, with noticeable graphical issues and inconsistent performance.

Lichii Emulator Runs Ocarina of Time on PC
The test was conducted on a PC equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080, and 64 GB of DDR5 memory. Running through Vulkan, the emulator managed to reach 60 FPS on the title screen and during the introduction.
However, the visual presentation still needs considerable work. One of the most noticeable problems is excessive bloom, which causes heavily overexposed scenes and washes out parts of the image. Performance is also inconsistent, with frame rates dropping well below 60 FPS in some sections.
For now, this is better understood as an early technical demonstration than a fully playable PC version. The emulator’s developers still have graphics and shader issues to address.

Nintendo’s Remake Launches Exclusively on Switch 2
The PC footage arrives alongside the official launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for November 5. The remake features overhauled visuals, fully voiced cutscenes, expanded dialogue, orchestral music, and updated camera and movement controls.
Nintendo has also introduced additional features, including a new day-and-night cycle that continues inside towns and the ability to hum learned melodies for Link to play on his ocarina.
The Lichii emulator remains experimental, and there’s no guarantee of when the graphical issues will be resolved. Still, seeing a recent Switch 2 release running on PC so early is another interesting development for console emulation.
For now, the official way to play the remake is on Nintendo Switch 2.
