The cosmic horror RPG expands by 20% with new mysteries, enemies, playable characters, and a fresh dose of terror.
The unsettling world of WORLD OF HORROR just got bigger. Developer panstasz and publisher Ysbryd Games have released AS BELOW SO ABOVE, the game’s largest content update to date, on PC via Steam, GOG, and itch.io. The free update adds 20% more content, bringing new mysteries, enemies, characters, events, and more ways to experience its unsettling cosmic horror.
New Old Gods and Mysteries Await
The update introduces two new manifestations of the Old Gods, including IKT-YOSIS, THE FIRST NIGHTMARE. Sleeping beneath the mountains, this entity gradually reshapes the world above as players perform rituals to awaken it, bringing strange weather and unsettling changes to the town.
Another new threat arrives with THE WAR FOR SHIOKAWA, where four cults summon their eldritch masters simultaneously, pushing the town toward complete corruption.
The update also introduces three new playable characters, including KIRIKO, a mysterious tarot reader whose cards influence Shiokawa’s fate, and SATOSHI, a young hiker familiar with the surrounding mountains.
New Stories and More Tools for Modders
The new Scenario Mode adds self-contained stories set before the main game, expanding the lore and connecting different mysteries. One scenario, FOREST OF FEAR / TAPES OF TRAGEDY, follows MAKOTO, a school AV club member who sets out to document the forest’s oldest legend.
Beyond its new content, AS BELOW SO ABOVE brings quality-of-life improvements, bug fixes, and additional customization options for Steam Workshop modders. Players can now create enemies, events, and mysteries with more ways to customize their creations.
The update is available now on PC. Console players on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation will have to wait until 2027 for the free expansion.
