From a game out now to a co-op roguelite arriving on Friday the 13th, here is your spooky-season lineup.

October is here, and so are the scares. Here are four horror games you can play now or soon, from psychological thrillers to underwater shooters. (Looking for more? Don’t miss our earlier coverage of SCP: Project Pneuma.)

Time To Wake Up (PC, PS5): Out Now

Belgian indie studio Eye Blink Twice has released its first commercial game, a first-person psychological thriller set inside a dream. You play as Alan Malone, stuck in surreal school memories, where you search for a mysterious book.

  • The hook: Blinking. Your eyes let you change your surroundings, switch and reset moving elements, and even flood whole rooms.
  • The setting: Hallways made of bedrooms, never-ending classrooms and a locker-based maze.
  • The threat: Creepy classmates stare relentlessly, so you’ll need to avoid crossing their paths.
  • Price and platforms: $14.99 on Steam and PS5. On Steam, a 20% introductory discount runs through October 26. It’s bundled with BrokenLore: Don’t Watch, and Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch versions are planned for later this year.

🎧 Horror games hit harder with good sound. A gaming headset with clear positional audio makes every footstep in the dark count.

Asylum (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Switch): October 30

Senscape’s first-person horror adventure debuted on PC in 2025 and holds a Very Positive rating on Steam. It heads to consoles just in time for Halloween. You play a former patient plagued by disturbing visions, exploring the Hanwell Mental Institute to piece together the truth behind its mysterious events.

  • Length: Around 10 hours of puzzles and atmosphere.
  • Influences: A story inspired by Lovecraftian fiction and classic horror cinema, and a soundtrack inspired by 80s horror films and John Carpenter.
  • Scares: Only a handful of jump scares are promised, since the game relies on suspense.
  • Publisher: Soedesco.

UnderMire (PC): November 13

This hand-drawn co-op roguelite from Manchester’s Table Knight Games arrives on Steam on Friday the 13th. Up to four players descend into a magical bunker beneath an old English manor, battling fear-fuelled monsters and managing a fear gauge, with proximity voice chat adding to the chaos.

  • The SMUSH system: Combine everyday junk into weapons, healing items and explosives.
  • New trailer: Shown during the Cozy After Dark Showcase, it introduces Rawiah, a spell-casting fourth playable character, and a run-in with Mothman.
  • Try it first: A free demo is available now.

ForMind (PC): Early Access in Late 2026

NextGenium’s single-player, third-person survival shooter is inspired by Dead Space and Resident Evil. You play Marcus Holt, a former military medic and virologist who wakes from cryosleep with amnesia in a secret underwater complex at the bottom of the Pacific, where the staff has mutated into aggressive infected.

  • The enemies: The infected dodge attacks and mimic human screams to lure you into traps.
  • Your tools: Gadgets like the Gravitron and a limb-severing kinetic Wire.
  • The station as a weapon: Use coolant from ruptured pipes, or run electric currents through flooded rooms.
  • Availability: A free demo is available now, and Early Access is planned for Steam in late 2026.
