Scopely’s WWE Champions, the studio’s top-downloaded WWE mobile game, is taking a trip to 2071. The limited-time event “Bounty by Moonlight” brings the retro-futuristic world of Cowboy Bebop into the game, running from Monday, September 28 through Sunday, October 4. During that window, WWE Champions gets a full visual takeover themed around the anime, pitting its bounty hunters against current and legendary WWE Superstars. “Its timeless style and legendary cast fit seamlessly into our universe for a truly unforgettable crossover,” said Jerome Collin, General Manager of WWE Champions at Scopely, about the partnership.

Who’s Wearing What

The crossover works through exclusive gear that transforms WWE Superstars into Cowboy Bebop characters, each with new entrance and victory animations. Trick Williams gets Spike Spiegel’s disheveled suit on October 2, and Sol Ruca is already wearing Faye Valentine’s signature yellow set. Bray Wyatt’s Jet Black gear rounds out the crew, bringing the Bebop’s captain into the ring alongside his castmates.

A Crossover That Fits

Cowboy Bebop’s mix of noir style, jazz-inflected soundtrack and ragtag found family has kept the 1998 anime relevant across generations, so it’s an easy match for a mobile game already built on larger-than-life personas. Whether the event sticks around in players’ collections after October 4 or the gear disappears with the takeover is something Scopely hasn’t detailed yet.
