Pre-orders for God of War Laufey go live tomorrow, September 29, at 10:00 AM local time, according to the official PlayStation Blog. The PS5-exclusive is a surprising detour for the rebooted saga: instead of playing as Kratos, you step into the boots of Faye, his late wife and Atreus’ mother, known in this game by her birth name, Laufey. The title launches February 16, 2027, and Santa Monica Studio used the pre-order announcement to also show fresh footage of Faye’s Serpent Bow in combat, confirming her fighting style has little in common with Kratos’ brute-force approach.
What Each Edition Includes
Two versions will be available side by side. Every pre-order, regardless of edition, comes with the Last Wish Armor Set, the Phranque Golden Leaves cosmetic appearance for the game’s companion cube, and an in-game resource pack. The Standard Edition ships in both physical disc and digital formats, while the Digital Deluxe Edition is download-only and stacks on the Dark Alchemy armor set, blade, bow scales and catalyst, plus a digital mini artbook and the official soundtrack.

Standard Edition owners aren’t locked out of the extras either: Sony is offering a $10 upgrade path to Digital Deluxe through the PlayStation Store, so you can start with the cheaper option and top up later if the Dark Alchemy set ends up calling your name.
Is It Worth Pre-Ordering Without Knowing the Price?
With the numbers finally out, the decision comes down to how much the Dark Alchemy set matters to you. Every pre-order bonus, along with the Digital Deluxe extras, is reportedly also unlockable through normal gameplay, so the pre-order mainly buys convenience and a head start on cosmetics, not exclusive content you’d otherwise miss forever. If a lower price for the Standard Edition matters more to you than getting the gear early, waiting a day to see the numbers costs nothing. If you already know you want the soundtrack and artbook, the Digital Deluxe is the one to watch once pricing drops.
