Zatun’s psychological survival horror game puts you inside a collapsed Foundation, hunting for answers alongside anomalies that don’t play by the rules.

Indian developer and publisher Zatun announced that the PC demo for SCP: Project Pneuma launches October 1, giving players their first hands-on look at the studio’s upcoming first-person psychological survival horror title. The story picks up after Project Echelon, a catastrophe that collapsed global containment, left Foundation facilities abandoned, and cut off all communication with Site-19. Players step into the role of Dr. Alexander “Alexie” Kolchak, one of the few survivors of Site-63, who has to cross ruined facilities, forgotten forests, isolated research sites and a haunted exclusion zone to reach Site-19 and piece together what actually happened.

Survival Built on Observation, Not Firepower

SCP: Project Pneuma blends exploration, stealth, environmental puzzles and survival mechanics into a narrative built around investigating what’s left of the Foundation. Supplies are scarce, and according to Zatun, danger can emerge without warning, so success depends on learning how each anomaly behaves before deciding whether to hide, evade or run. Players will recover journals and voice logs scattered through abandoned locations to reconstruct the timeline of the collapse, piecing the story together the same way Alexie does, one fragment at a time.

Anomalies With Their Own Rules

The demo will feature several SCP-inspired anomalies, including SCP-173Z, SCP-096Z, SCP-939Z and SCP-239Z, each with distinct behaviors that demand a different approach rather than a single go-to strategy. That’s paired with the game’s central psychological hook: as Alexie pushes deeper into the devastation, the line between reality and hallucination starts to blur, and Zatun frames his own mind as potentially the greatest threat he’ll face, on top of whatever is roaming the halls with him.

What to Expect From the Demo

The October 1 release is specifically meant to showcase the game’s atmosphere, exploration and anomaly-driven survival systems ahead of a future Early Access release, rather than being a full vertical slice of the final game. It’s available on PC through Steam, and Zatun hasn’t given a firm date yet for when Early Access itself will launch, so the demo is currently the only way to get a real feel for Project Pneuma before then.
